Call for Candidates for Department Chair

The Department of Oceanography at National Sun Yat-sen University is now seeking candidates for the position of Department Chair. The term is three years, from February 1, 2027 to January 31, 2030.

Qualifications:

1. Candidates must hold the rank of Professor or Associate Professor. Candidates who are not current full-time NSYSU faculty must first pass the University's appointment review process.
2. Academic expertise in a field related to ocean sciences.
3. Within the past three years (2024–2026), candidates must have led at least one NSTC research project and published at least one academic work in a related field (including journal articles such as SCIE).
4. Candidates must be no older than 62 at the time of taking office.

Methods of application:

1. Self-nomination.
2. Nomination by one or more full-time faculty members of the Department.
3. Nomination by the Search Committee.

Please email the candidate's consent form, curriculum vitae, and statement of vision for the Department's development to the Department Chair Search Committee, Department of Oceanography, National Sun Yat-sen University, by October 30, 2026 (date of receipt by the Department Office).
