Department of Oceanography, National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU), Kaohsiung, Taiwan
National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) is one of Taiwan’s leading research universities (https://ocean.nsysu.edu.tw/?Lang=en), consistently ranked among the nation’s top institutions and recognized internationally for its research strength. The Department sits along the scenic Kaohsiung coastline—in the heart of Taiwan’s vibrant “Southern Capital”—where forested mountains meet the sea and the campus opens directly onto its own beach and bay. A dynamic city of 2.7 million, Kaohsiung pairs an outstanding quality of life with convenient international access through Kaohsiung International Airport, an extensive public transit network, and a rich array of cultural and culinary experiences, all at a cost of living well below that of comparable research hubs.
The College of Marine Sciences has been a nationally supported center of excellence since the 1980s and is strategically positioned beside the seaport and the open ocean. Taiwan’s subtropical waters—where the Kuroshio Current, the South China Sea, and the East China Sea converge—support an exceptional richness of marine life, placing world-class field sites, coral reefs, and remarkably diverse marine fauna within easy reach. Faculty enjoy access to NSYSU’s 800-ton research vessel (https://or3.nsysu.edu.tw/?Lang=en), modern laboratory and analytical facilities, and a collegial, internationally engaged community that actively supports the success of early-career researchers.
The Department of Oceanography is seeking one to two tenure-track faculty members in Marine Biology, Ecology, or Biological Oceanography. We are especially interested in candidates whose research focuses on marine organisms—particularly marine invertebrates—and we warmly welcome applicants whose work links organismal biology with broader themes such as biodiversity, evolution, physiology, symbiosis, or marine ecosystem function.

- A minimum of two years of combined doctoral and postdoctoral research conducted outside Taiwan.

- A strong record of research publications.
Rank and salary will be based on the candidate’s experience and achievements. Positions will be open until filled.
