Library & Journal Services — Earth Science Research Promotion Center (ESRPC)

The Earth Science Research Promotion Center (ESRPC) under the Department of Natural Sciences, National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), offers three major subsidy programs that allow applicants to access and download academic articles free of charge. Faculty, students, and researchers in earth sciences across Taiwan are strongly encouraged to utilize these resources.

1. Article Token Subsidies for Single Journal Papers

The ESRPC provides Elsevier article tokens; each token allows the download of one article or one e-book chapter. Please confirm the article you need before initiating the download. Each request provides 2 tokens to facilitate rapid access—please make good use of the second token as well.

  • Eligibility: Faculty, students, and researchers in earth science fields nationwide.

2. Subsidies for Purchasing Single Journal Articles

Given the diverse range of publications in earth sciences, if your home institution does not subscribe to a required e-journal, you may apply for an ESRPC subsidy to acquire the full text. Each applicant receives two waiver allowances—even if you accidentally apply for an article already purchased via center subsidies or accessible through interlibrary loan, your application will still be approved.

  • Eligibility: Faculty, researchers (including postdoctoral scholars), and Master's students in Taiwan (eligibility expanded to Master's students in 2026).

3. Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Services

To maintain the completeness of earth science literature in Taiwan, the ESRPC has acquired 25 Western academic e-journals and various earth science reference books, housed at the National Central University Library for interlibrary loan purposes. Detailed title listings can be searched through the ESRPC Interlibrary Loan Bibliographic System.
