This forum brings together first and second year undergraduate students and faculty members from the Department of Oceanography through facilitated discussions, strengthening relationships and promoting mutual understanding. The program features brief faculty introductions and student self-introductions. Faculty and students shared their most memorable offshore research and international field experiences, helping participants gain deeper insights into one another's academic pursuits and personal experiences. Newly appointed Assistant Professor Yu-Chun Chang was invited to participate in this event. Beyond his self-introduction, he shared engaging stories about conducting large-scale offshore research aboard research vessels. During the forum, Academician Chen-Tung Arthur Chen also shared his unique polar field sampling research experiences from his involvement in global-scale research projects. The forum included a dedicated session addressing course selection considerations for junior undergraduate students, as well as information on graduate school application timelines within the university. The event concluded in a warm and collegial atmosphere.
